Professionals who are looking to give their careers that extra boost opt for Executive MBA course. This course is specially formulated with the executives or professionals in mind. These are typically people with few years of work experience who are good with their basics of business knowledge but are looking to polish their management skills. Executive MBA Course Description

The Executive MBA course spans over a year where the programs utilises the team approach to disburse the learning’s. The course works in groups and enables each person to learn for each other’s experiences. Thus there is diverse sharing of practical knowledge on various topics which results in a very informative and challenging learning experience. The course is formatted in such a way that the students are able to address the inadequacy currently existing in the general management today using scientific approaches. For the one year Executive MBA the course is usually a residential course.

There are some colleges offering part time Executive MBA courses too, however the duration of the course varies from institute to institute. The classes are conducted in the evenings or during the weekends and the courses are not residential.

While pursuing the course, students are allowed to continue their work. These days with the advancement of technology geography does not hinder an interested student. Several colleges also offer executive MBA course online too.

Eligibility criteria for Executive MBA

There are several eligibility criteria’s that have to be considered while considering an Executive MBA course. To pursue Executive MBA one needs to have at least 3 years of work experience and a bachelor’s degree which is a must. There are some colleges that insist on aspiring students having a post graduate degree too as a criterion. Other than this, depending on the institute’s requirements, the aspiring students would have to clear the entrance exams, the group discussions and the personal interview rounds. Some colleges prefer to utilize the GMAT scores while the others conduct entrance exams of their own.

Aspiring students are required to secure a minimum of 50% of marks in the entrance exams depending on the institutes. Some institutes like select students only on the basis of sponsorship. There are some organizations that sponsor their employees for these executive MBA courses. The fee structure for regular candidates varies from sponsored candidates. The other eligibility criterion is certain colleges are the type of work experience that the aspiring student has had over the years. Preference is usually given to candidates with managerial work experience.

Job Prospects after Executive MBA

Students who are sponsored by companies to take up Executive MBA courses are resume their work in their sponsoring company. Since an MBA degree reveals a higher level of understanding and knowledge management topics, non sponsored candidates after Executive MBA usually are assisted by the placement cell in the institutes. A typical job role for a candidate who has completed his or her executive MBA would play a managerial role with higher responsibilities that involves managing a team, delivering goals set, etc.
