Law is a set of rules and regulations designed by an authority to be followed by everyone in order to function properly; whether it’s a country or an organization. Law is one of the most prestigious and rewording job. Over the years the practice of Law has also undergone numerous changes which have helped to expand the need and expertise in this field. The practitioners of law are known as lawyers.
The minimum qualification required to join Law is 12th standard. The duration of B.A.LLB course is five years. A student can also go for a three years LLB course after completing graduation and like other fields Law also has master’s degree programs. A lot of government and private institutes offer up to date courses which also have specializations. A student can specialize in following fields: Civil Law, Criminal Law, Corporate Law, Taxation Law, Labor Law, International Law, Family Law, Patent Law, Institutional Law, Real Estate Law, Environmental Law, Family Law, Immigration Law etc.
A Lawyer in order to function and survive in a competitive environment must be intellectual, a curious soul with effective communication skills, confident with the ability to scrutinize reality.
A law student after the completion of course in his initial years of working is suggested to work under the guidance of a senior advocate or a solicitor in order to gain strong foundation for their future. Otherwise lawyers can practice both with private as well as public sector. In order to apply for government jobs a lawyer has to register with the Local, State or Central Bar Council and work as an attorney, public prosecutor or work with government departments say defense, tax etc. Lawyers can also start their own practice as a high court or Supreme Court lawyer or work with private organizations, NGO’S or media firms.
