Music serves a dual purpose in the life of a man-first, one can unwind his soul to the beats and rhythm of music and second one can easily make money by opting for music as a career .The best part of choosing music as a career is that one can earn while pursuing his/her hobby. Nowadays the recognition of music as a career has increased considerably when more and more people are coming forward to set aside the professional courses and join their favourite school of art to give wings to their aspirations of becoming a musician.
Then, the next question that arises is –what does it take to be a musician? So, the answer is an inborn talent of a good voice or a passion for composing tunes or a drive for performing on stage or playing an instrument is necessary. - A student of the art of music can become a teacher in all the well reputed schools .One can choose the area of teaching according to his or her area of training, for example one can become a vocal music teacher or a instrumental music teacher or both depending on the interest and the nature of training attained by the person.
- Depending upon the interest of the person, one can join a band or orchestra and become a live performer
- One can become a composer of songs by arranging the ideas into musical notation by making the use of rhythm, meter and harmony.
- A person can opt to become a music journalist or music publisher, a V.J. [video jockey] or a D.J. [disc jockey].
- A new and emerging career in this field is of a music therapist where a person can help people heal by the soothing effect of music but this requires a psychological background.
Eligibility for making Music as a career
There are no such hard and fast eligibility criteria for joining this stream as a prospective career but one should have talent and a passion for music. But to take up a job in this field one should have passed at least a 10+2 level examination from a recognised school.
