Qualification Requirements for NIC Exam
To appear for the exam at NIC for the position of a programmer the minimum eligibility is that the aspiring candidates have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering with specialization in Computers Science or other computer related subjects. Students with other degrees like Masters in Computer Applications, Maters in Science with specializations in Physics, Computer Science, Statistics, operation research or Mathematics with either Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science stream from any government recognised university or institution are eligible to appear for the exam.
In case the aspiring candidate does not have a Post graduate diploma then at least a minimum of three years of work experience is required in the field of computer programming. Students with Bachelors degree in Engineering, B.Tech and Masters in Computer Applications should have secured at least 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent marks. Students with Masters in science should have also secured a minimum of 60% aggregate of equivalent in their exams. In case of student having a Masters and a Post graduate degree it is mandatory that in both the degrees the minimum marks secured in 60% in aggregate or equivalent grade.
There are certain programming posts for which applications from Bachelor degree holders like B. Sc in Physics, Mathematics, Operations research, Statistics or Economics with specialization in computer science or Bachelors in Computer Applications are invited. Even in their case, it is mandatory that the aspiring candidate has 60% minimum marks as aggregate or equivalent grade. It is also mandatory that the students with a BSC either posses a Post graduate diploma degree in Computer science or computer applications from reputed institutes or have a minimum of one year of work experience in the field of programming.
Age Limit for NIC Exam
The age limit for these jobs at between 18 to 30 years and any relaxation in this criterion is dependant on government rules.

The application for the NIC exams is available at the NIC website or the aspiring candidates can take the application form from the news paper in which the details of the NIC exams were advertised.
