MBA is one of the most sought after careers these days and this being the 'E-age', the marriage between internet and MBA was certainly 'on-the-cards'! Imagine not having to rush for classes and learning at your own speed.
Doing an online MBA course is a great option for people who do not have the time. Also, the students who live in remote parts of the country can go for it. Then, there is also the option of some institutes you may not be able to qualify to the regular program. In case you don’t know already, even IIM Ahmedabad offers some online programs.
Other benefits of online MBA:
- Learn at a time of the day that suits you.
- A program (audio-video) is kept readied which you can access, pause, forward, rewind, and save!
- Pursue a job alongside. It is highly recommended as some top of the line companies recruit people with prior experience.
- Contact your peers and teachers at any time through e-mail and chat.
- You may take the course from any place in the world at a fraction of the cost.
- The institutes mainly provide the Study Material at the beginning of the course.
- You are never in a position to miss a class.
- Most courses are so designed that you do not miss or are at a disadvantageous situation than your regular counterparts.
- Almost all institutes providing online programs offer crash courses, orientation programs or part-time/weekend/evening classes from time to time.
- It is but a matter of time when people will have internet telephony and Webcams to communicate. Well, that’s some good news to skeptics!
- The part that is most appreciated is being given a Degree or Qualification at par with regular programs.
Some of the institutes giving online courses are The IIMs, IITs, the Sikkim Manipal University, The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, The Symbiosis Institutes and a host of other universities and autonomous institutes.
There may be some disadvantages on online MBA as well:
- No regular interaction with peers and teachers.
- The fee may be a little higher than the regular courses.
- An online course may lead you to be a bit complacent in studies and completion of deadlines.
- Again, you may not know how to choose a university & its competence.
- Lack of motivation. Since there are no teachers or regular classes to keep tabs on your studies, keeping one’s morale up is sometimes difficult.
Remember what may be good for one may not be as good for the others. Care is something you need to take while doing an online course. These days, online courses are offered in risk management, Accounting Management etc. Going for online courses can be satisfying, time-saving as well as fulfilling.
So, if in case you don’t get an admission in the MBA institute of your choice or you want to work while doing your MBA, just opt for an online MBA course.
