XAT is the Xavier’s Aptitude Test which is conducted by Xavier’s Labor Relations Institute (XLRI) for the students who aspire to do post graduation in management courses. This test is been conducted for more than 50 years by Xavier’s Labor Relations Institute. Xavier according to market survey is amongst top 5 B-schools in India.
XAT is one of the most credible exams preferred by various B-schools in India. Acharya School of Management, Affinity Business School, ALLIANCE Business School, Bengal Institute of Business Studies, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Usha & Lakshmi Mittal Institute of Management, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute of Management and Higher Studies, IILM Institute for Higher Education, Kohinoor Business School, Xavier Institute of Development Action and Studies, Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar, Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Xavier Institute of Social Service are management institutes amongst 30 institutes where 30 individual management institutes which consider XAT score’s before zeroing on their prospective management students.
The minimum qualification to apply for XAT exam is minimum 50% in graduation. Students pursuing final year can also apply but on provisional basis only. The registration for XAT is done online or XAT bulletin can be obtained from select Axis bank branches; the candidate has to fill the form according to the instructions mentioned and afterwards fulfilling the procedure the student will be issued admit card online which he/she has to print out from there.
All the important dates, news and procedures are duly updated on XLRI website. The exam is of two hour duration and is segregated under three heads 1) Verbal and Logical Ability, 2) Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation and 3) Analytical Reasoning & Decision making. Number of questions and pattern keeps changing from time to time like in 2007 XAT exam had 130 questions whereas in 2009 XAT exam had 104 questions and in 2008 it had 120 questions. 20 minutes extra time are given for essay writing.
XAT exam also has negative marking. So all the students gear up hard as the date for 2010 XAT exams are already out and approaching fast.
