You need not loose your heart as money can buy books but definitely not your self-confidence and as far as i believe to be successful in any exam your self-confidence play a prominent role.
However, it is definitely not necessary that you have to join some coaching to be successful in CAT exam. Definitely you can prepare for the exams on your own. All you need to do is to remain stick to your basics. solve a lot of mock papers, previous year question papers, sample papers etc and have faith on yourself. Don't bother what others are doing or saying. Focus on your goal and do your best to achieve it.
