BA - Mathematics

B.A. (Hons.) Mathematics is a bachelor level degree, which is attained by students studying Mathematics at graduation level.

Eligibility

The following eligibility is needed to pursue B.A. (Hons.) Mathematics. 10+2 certificate from a recognized education board, students with science and commerce streams at the higher secondary level with Mathematics as one of its subjects can apply for this course. Some institutions may also ask for an admission test for admission into the course.

The duration of B.A. (Hons) Mathematics is three years.

Scope

The scope of B.A. (Hons) Mathematics is,

  • BA (Hons) degree in Mathematics helps you to study the principles of Mathematics in greater depth.
  • BA Degree in Mathematics serves as a basis for further studies in this field. It is only after B A (Hons) in Mathematics that you can go for an M Sc, PHD and M Phil degree in Mathematics. A post as a lecturer in any university or for that matter any school after higher studies in Mathematics can be a highly paying career option.
  • If you have some other qualification till class 12 like the knowledge of accounts, a degree in Mathematics can be helpful in attaining other degrees like the ICWA. In the very same way, mathematics and its principles are also useful in the principles of computer science and engineering. Though, it may not be feasible or desirable for an engineering student to take up B A (Hons) in Mathematics as an additional subject, a student going for a diploma in computer science may well be benefitted by B A (Hons) Mathematics.
