BA - Political Science

B.A. (Hons) political science is a bachelor level degree, which is attained by students studying political science at graduation level.

Eligibility

The following eligibility is needed to pursue B.A. (Hons) political science. Since, social studies or political science is taught to all students till class 10, there is no specific eligibility criterion for an entry into this course apart from clearing higher secondary examination from a recognized board. Some institutions may also ask for an admission test for admission to the course.

The course duration of B.A. (Hons) Political Science is 3 years.

Scope

The scope of B.A. (Hons) Political Science is:

  • The study of political science at the graduation level involves study of both national and international political systems. Apart from understanding how the governments operate, you also learn how individuals, social movements, groups and political parties relate with each other.
  • You study both the causes and consequences of various social issues like poverty, problem of environmental degradation, the nature and consequences of globalization, terrorism and refuge, war and dispute over territory and resources and many more.
  • Political science is a vast field. You can choose any of the topics mentioned above and do in depths study of the issue.
  • The degree also gives you a scope to become political analyst.
  • You can also do a research on political parties belonging to both India and other countries.
  • You can also find job as a teacher or college professor.
