B. A. (Hons.) Sanskrit is a bachelor level degree, which is pursued by students studying Sanskrit at graduation level.
Eligibility
The following eligibility may be needed to pursue B.A. (Hons) Sanskrit:
- Though there is no specific eligibility or criteria for taking up this course, it is desirable that a student has some previous knowledge about the subject at under graduation level. This is not a big problem though, because since it is a very scoring subject, most students opt for Sanskrit at least up to class 10.
- Whether you attain the knowledge of Sanskrit up to 8th, 10th or 12th level, your knowledge has to be supported by a certificate from a recognized board.
- Some institutions may also ask for an admission test for admission into the course.
Duration
The duration of B.A. (Hons) Sanskrit course is three years.
Scope
The scope of B.A. (Hons) Sanskrit is:
- You can go in for higher studies and attain a higher degree in Sanskrit.
- Sanskrit is an old language and many of our old literatures are written in this language. A detail study of the language gives you an opportunity to translate old literature, mythology and other books from one language to another.
- Though Sanskrit is mainly learnt and taught in India, both written and spoken command over the language can get you a job around the globe.
- A good knowledge of the language can also get you a job as a teacher in schools and colleges, which is a highly rewarding career.
