Masters in Dental Surgery (MDS) in Pathology and Microbio is one of the branches of dentistry. While the former i.e. Pathology deals in the type, identification and managing of the problems inflicting the oral and maxillofacial areas. The latter i.e. Microbio (Microbiology) comprises the study of microorganism that are unicellular or cell cluster. The study of the immune system comes under this branch.
Under this course, one is made to identify the causes, process and effects of diseases.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission to MDS-Oral Pathology and Microbio
- You must hold the bachelor’s degree in dental surgery from a dental college affiliated to the Dental Council of India.
- You must have a permanent registration with State Dental Council or Dental Council at national level. In case, you do not have it, you must get it with the one month after getting admission to the course. If you won’t be able to get it by that time, your admission to the course will be cancelled.
- You must have completed compulsory internship by the time of admission and need to show completion certificate.
- If you have completed PG diploma recognized by the Dental Council of India of two years duration in a specific dental branch, then you are eligible for admission in the course in the same branch.
Career Prospects
After acquiring the degree, if you wish you can set up your own clinic after earning some experience. You can do practice in government or private hospitals or health institutions. As a dental surgeon, doors to defense are also opened for you; here you can join as commissioned officer. In this field, you get above average income along with excellent working environment.
